As always the Snowshoe Open was a lot of fun and we had some great highlights heading into the championship portion of the season. While some rested, many had strong performances on our home track and gave the program some nice momentum into the Big Ten Championship meet next weekend at Penn State.
The hurdle crew is rounding into form with Silovich going 8.20 and Duling going 8.25. RJ hit a PR in his hurdle race with an 8.24 and later added a PR in the shot put going over 50' for the first time with his 50'5. Also over in the shot put Tyler and Trey both went over 55' for the second time this year going 1-2. The weight throw was solid with Studt moving his PR up to 66'11 and the rest of the guys at/near their PR's heading into Big Ten's.
We also had some nice PR's and wins in the jumps. Ray had a nice night going over 48' in the triple jump and hitting a solid long jump, while Demer emerged with a 46+ jump. Brock hit a season best in the vault with his 16'8. The distance crew of Furseth, Olson and Kampf went 1-2-3 in the 3k. Walter returned to the home track with a nice win in the 600-meters in 1:22.59.
NEWS-FLASH: Ibes had another win and provo in the 60-meters.
Ok. We get it. You're fast.
(Just kidding Ibes... go tear em' up at Big Tens!)
The red-shirts had a fine showing to close out their indoor seasons. Micah Hegerle and Sean King battled for most impressive red-shirt performance on the night. Micah with his 60-foot toss in the weight and Sean with a 6.89 in the 60-meter. After some research, its been determined that both performances currently rank 14th on the Big Ten rankings in their respective event, so we'll call it a tie!
I'll be posting a recruiting update on Monday morning... so stay tuned!
